An ejb jar is a standard java ee module, and can be deployed by  
itself without being in an ear.  Geronimo lets you specify the  
classloader of your apps beyond what is in the ee app itself by  
putting the jars you need in the geronimo repository and including  
dependency elements specifying them in your geronimo plan environment/ 
dependencies element.
