Hi Vivian,
There's a problem in your environment settings -- either your
JRE_HOME or JAVA_HOME setting is incorrect. As a result, the java ext
or endorsed dirs (I don't remember which) is not being configured
properly before java is invoked. I'm assuming that you're using
geronimo.sh (or startup.sh) to start geronimo (which I recommend).

$ export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/
Versions/CurrentJDK/Home
$ ./geronimo.sh run
Using GERONIMO_BASE:   /Users/kevan/geronimo/server/trunk/target/
geronimo-jetty6-jee5-2.0-SNAPSHOT
Using GERONIMO_HOME:   /Users/kevan/geronimo/server/trunk/target/
geronimo-jetty6-jee5-2.0-SNAPSHOT
Using GERONIMO_TMPDIR: var/temp
Using JRE_HOME:        /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/
Versions/CurrentJDK/Home
...
