I created a Jira the issue is GERONIMO-2190.

The problem isn't that there is a car file at
geronimo-1.1/repository/foo/bar/1.0/ because that does get removed with
the console. Its like Geronimo thinks it still has it some other way.
Cause once I restart Geronimo it works. Ill try to get you that jira
soon as well.

A Jira would be great as Kevin mentioned, and to work around this in the
mean time, you'll have to delete the directory created for the GBean
module in the repository.  e.g. if your module ID is foo/bar/1.0/jar
then you should delete
geronimo-1.1/repository/foo/bar/1.0/*
