Starting and stopping the server has been created by Dan Becker (Feb 19, 2008).

Content:

There are a few command line alternatives to start the server. From a co= mmand line window or terminal change directory to <geronimo_home>/= bin. From there you can either type:

java -Djava.endorsed.dirs=3Dlib/endorsed -javaagent:bin/jpa.jar -= jar bin/server.jar or simply startup

or

geronimo run or geronimo start

Refer to the Startup=3D"" and Geronimo3D"" from the <= span class=3D"nobr">Tools and commands3D"" section for all the options for this comman= d.

To stop the server you will have to open a new command line window or te= rminal, change directory to <geronimo_home>/bin and run the shutdown command. You will be prompted for username and passw= ord. Alternatively you can press Ctrl+C on the terminal Geronimo is = running to kill the process. Refer to the Shutdown3D"" and = Geronimo3D""<= /sup> from the Tools and commands3D"" section for the = available options for this command.

If the server is already running you have the option of using the Geronimo Administration Console to= shutdown the server remotely. With the server up and running open a Web br= owser and point to the following URL to access the console:

http://localhost:8080/conso= le3D""

Log in to the Geronimo Administration Console and click on Unable to render embedded object: File (ico_x_16x16.gif) not fou= nd. Shutdown on the Console Navigation menul on the left.

Unable to render embedded object: File (shutdown_c= onsole.jpg) not found.

When you click on the Shutdown button in the Server Manager portl= et, you will be prompted one more time to confirm the server shutdown. Clic= k OK to confirm and shutdown the server. No need to mention that the= connection from the Administration Console will be lost and you will need = to restart the server from a terminal or command line window.
