Did they re-release 1.0-beta-1?  selenium-m-p 1.0-beta-3 uses selenium  
1.0-beta-1 and that, before at least did not fix the problems.  I've  
not re-tested it yet though.  The latest SNAPSHOT of selenium-m-p  
depends on their latest SNAPSHOT which should work.
