Jason Dillon commented on GERONIMO-2411:
----------------------------------------

I believe this is another fundamental flaw with Maven.

The official release of a product like Geronimo is always the zip/tgz, never the artifacts
which are pushed to some transient repository (and yes they are all transient since they keep
falling down and loosing stuff).

Since everything in Maven is an artifact, then essentially our use of Maven makes every file
in Geronimo a release distribution... and really don't think that is appropriate. Either
the ASF guides need to be updated to reflect mvn usage, or we need to stop using maven.

> For release of these artifacts they need to include the LICENSE and NOTICE files. Currently
the build does not automatically include them. The M2 build needs to be updated to include
these artifacts in the build process.
