I think it'll just remove all the temporary stuff Maven uses.  I'm no 
expert though, so just rename it if you're not sure.

The point is that beta 10 and RC1 both use the same directory, so I 
wouldn't be surprised if things have gotten a bit confused.  Renaming or 
removing it should basically start you off from fresh.
