We would typically only keep unused classes if they were part of the user API in a previous
release.

If an unused class is not required for backwards compatibility then it should be deleted.
This jira ticket lists unused classes that should be removed. If you delete any of these classes,
please add an appropriate comment and then remove the class name from the ticket description.
