No. Projects don't do that anymore. Copying and editing
the core sitemaps is the old 0.5 way. Now if a project
has very special needs, then they can provide their
own minimal sitemap. No need to copy and edit the core ones.

Drat, i can see why you are confused. The upgrading
document does not clearly explain.
