Subject [jira] Commented: (FOR-1168) Sample pages that fail validation
Date Fri, 04 Jun 2010 02:27:55 GMT

David Crossley commented on FOR-1168:

I reckon that this is a good solution.

However, it would need emphasis in the "upgrading" doc and "changes", because it would break
linking if people were relying on the current format. Hopefully they are using a "site.xml"
navigation, making it easy to change.

By the way, in most of the xdocs that i write, i tend to use an explicit section@id attribute
in the source doc. Much better than relying on those generated links, which can be very verbose
depending on the "title". That also helps to separate the concern of "linking", and protects
against an author tweaking the section title and hence breaking the links.

> The main 'sample.html' passes validation fine, however some other pages fail xhtml 1.0
strict validation. Mainly due to the use of the + symbol in name anchors. Not a problem for
sites validating to HTML4.01.
