Subject [jira] Commented: (FOR-972) Export Jira Issues as they are resolved/closed so they can be imported into status.xml
Date Thu, 29 Mar 2007 09:58:25 GMT

Gavin commented on FOR-972:

Yes, Jira already has an XML file, from clicking the XML link in the browser, but this is
a manual process, then you have to filter it and then you have to insert whats left into status.xml,
all a manual process.

Jira can export (via email etc) this XML - and filter it to our needs, and do it automatically
whenever someone closes an issue.
We can then use this resultant XML file to add the required info as an <action> entry
into status.xml.

I think this would save a fair amount of work, especially when people forget to do it and
one has to trawl through all
Issues for the last 6 months and add them manually.

I do not know however, how much work is involved in getting it transformed and inserted into
the status.xml file
in the correct place. (The transform should not be a problem)

At least if we have the exported XML file we are reminded immediatly and can c+p the
transformed file directly without alteration until / if an automation of the insert-into-status
can be done.

Does anyone think this can/can not be done, reasons?
