All,

My apologies.  I'm not sure what the problem was here, but the build that 
failed was being run inside Eclipse.  A command-line build (in the 
workspace - same files) succeeded; and thereafter, builds run inside 
Eclipse succeed.

Sorry for the mis-diagnosis ... but is this a known problem?
