I only use it because I don't use Forrest in a dynamic environment, but all 
my pages are created dynamically at build time.

IMHO, this is the best option. The LinkStatusGenerator can then read it from 
the http header and added it to its xml output.

This will need to be done, but again IMHO only to add http headers from the 
crawled URLs to the xml output.
