Well, it does look very useful and in line with some of what has been 
discussed.

Specifically :-

Sub-task issues are usually used to split up a parent issue into a number of 
tasks which can be assigned and tracked separately. Splitting issues into 
smaller tasks often provides a better picture of the progress on the issue 
and allows each party that needs to be involved in resolving the issue to 
better understand what part of the process they are responsible for. 
Sub-tasks have all the properties of regular issues such as summary, 
reporter, assignee, fix versions, etc. Their "issue type" must be one of the 
sub-task issue types rather than one of the regular issue types.
