Subject [jira] Commented: (FOR-173) Be able to move files without breaking outside links
Date Wed, 06 Jul 2005 23:22:10 GMT

Thorsten Scherler commented on FOR-173:
---------------------------------------

If I understand you right, Nicola:
"Too bad that the actual URL has changed, so direct links to myfile.html will fail.
What I would like is that the system redirects to mynewfile.html automatically. "

That is was David is doing "by hand" with e.g.
"New Revision: 209146

URL: http://svn.apache.org/viewcvs?rev=209146&view=rev
Log:
Special redirect for /0.7/events.* to /events.*"

Now your suggest the solution to:
"To do this one would have to cache the old site.xml, compare it, and put redirects to the
elements that have changed href."

How do you thought to do that? Save it on the file-system? Which is the trigger for doing
this action?
