I think you misunderstood. I could not find a refernce in the properties file, not the file.

You asked two separate questions below, and now are mixing the
answers together.

Are you now asking where is the cocoon.xconf file?
If so ...
 cd forrest
 find . -name cocoon.xconf
main/webapp/WEB-INF/cocoon.xconf
