OK. Thanks for the tip. Is there a way the image could have an id 
applied? Then it could change to:

<extra-css>
a.external
   float: none;
a.external>img#apacheCon2004img
   float: left;
   margin-right: 10px
</extra-css>

(I'm grasping at straws a little, but the SelectORacle thingie[1] below 
will help figure it out--have you tried it? It's really cool!)
