Subject [issues] New comment: (FOR-260) put a little error icon behind broken links
Date Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT
The following comment has been added to this issue:

       Body:
This begs the question "what are you doing with broken links in your site?". It is true that
sometimes external links go down outside of our control, but in a statically generated site
we can't do anything about that. All broken (internal links) are listed in the broken links
file.

In a dynamically generated site we could check the link each time the page is generated, but
this is hugely wastefull of resources and since most links will be active seems rather unnecessary.
I suppose a periodic check would make more sense, but then is that the job of Forrest?

For error checking it is far more eficient to use the briken links file for internal links
and Canoo Webtest (http://webtest.canoo.com) or similar for external links.

Or have I totally missed the point of this request?
