The workaround by Jay is fine to 'plain' xml files. I don't know how to use it with .sxw files.
AFAIK unicode is one and the only encoding for Open Ofice's documents and there is no simple
way (i.e. by cliking in the menu / dialog) to change it.

Description:
When you transform a document with other characters than latin to PDF, in spite of the unicode(UTF-8)
of the original file all characters get broken and isn't readable. please, does anyone have
a simple solution for this?
