It shoulod not, so look at skin.xml, and add eventual missing > tags between the two projects and retry. from memory, when i started with the most recent tarball of forrest (version 0.4?), as a test, i built the sample site that comes as a demo, and ran through all three skin choices in "forrest.properties". in all three cases, i left the skinconf.xml file alone, and for two of the three skins (forrest-site and krysalis), the google search box was generated. for the avalon-tigris skin, there was no search box, which i thought was odd. using the CVS tree that i downloaded just yesterday, none of those three sample skins display a search box. if there's something else that has to be done to get a search box with the CVS version, it's not obvious from the docs. rday
