It's me again,

the enclosed svg should demonstrate the second problem I have.

i.e a shape defined in the <defs> part can not "use" another
shape frome <defs> part anymore.

This seems to lead to the :
  "   org.apache.batik.bridge.BridgeException: null:-1
An I/O error occured while processing the URI '#test' specified on the
element <use> "
