quite a non-issue in fact: replacing the avalon-**4.1.3.jar with 
the 4.1.4 that is in current cvs head will make the deprecates go 
  away again?

have no memory of discussion on cocoon or avalon lists about this 
onoff behaviour of their deprications (skimreadeing again?) so am 
not totally happy with my own implicit proposition here to just 
go to cvs head of cocoon 2.1 to both get by with the gump 
complaint and the deprecates?


as for the remaining point: I see Steven just started a different 
thread, maybe makes sense to continue there?
