It's a known bug.  I've just committed some jars in a 'with_pdf_images'
branch which get images in PDFs, at the expense of some seemingly
harmless NPEs, and some PDF padding problems.  It requires users to
download jimi.jar from Sun (http://java.sun.com/products/jimi/), as
apparently the JIMI licensing is problematic.
