Currently, editing source XML files doesn't cause problems, but editing the sitemap itself causes Cocoon to die with: java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String This is a Cocoon bug: http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=11518 The patch in that bugreport works.
