Fabian Hueske commented on FLINK-1331:

I am not sure if such a script is a good idea. The question is, why do we add the example
programs in the distribution.
IMO, we do that to show users how to use Flink. This includes submitting programs to Flink
(possibly with own data) and tracking their progress with the webfrontend.
If we make the submission part super easy for example programs but not for regular jobs, users
do not learn how to do that for their custom programs.

Just executing a job by running a simple script might be a nice demo and show that something
is happening somehow, but that's it basically...

> Running the Flink examples should be super simple.
> - provide a script in bin called run-example.sh
> - skip the entry class path, i.e. WordCount runs org.apache.flink.examples.java.wordcount.WordCount
> - provide default parameters and setup instructions
> - automatically set up a local execution when no cluster configuration has been found
