I did not say it’s better than AIR.

If ActionScript/swf/AIR is a good target, then I’m all for that.

If the target is HTML (for whatever reason), then CEF is a really good way to get HTML5 packaged
as a native app. There’s lots of popular apps which use it. Brackets, Evernote, Macaw to
name a few.

If a large part of your app is a Web view, then CEF might be worth looking at instead of AIR.
Modern Chromium is definitely better than the outdated Webkit included in AIR.
