gosmith's explanation of how these things work does NOT address the issue at hand. And I confirm
the issue is still open and valid. However, this issue also exists in flash.globalization.DateTimeFormatter
which the spark one is a wrapper for. So it needs to be fixed by Adobe not Apache.
