For the first question, i don't know...
But this helped me a lot to implement some features that i needed for my projects:
Is a extended TLF with already a lot of functionality.
TLF could be the answer for a lot of our problems but on my personal opinion is missing something
to be the start that everyone want it them to be.
And the new font renderer bring more problems then solutions the expected quality is different
that the one that i got...
