Unless you sleep for 72 hours, decisions are not made while you are
sleeping :-)

To me, the problem is that a video chat cannot be skimmed quickly without
fear of missing something, and a text transcription provided by an
attendee might also miss something.  So, it is efficient for those who
were there, but not for those who weren't, and hard for those who are
short on time to catch up, and that might make it seem unfair to someone
who wants to participate but has a lot of schedule conflicts with the
meeting times.

But again, if our former mentors are ok with it, then I will be too.
