Subject What does Apache list moderation mean?
Date Wed, 23 Aug 2017 06:11:56 GMT
Hey all,

>From Ed's answer it was clear that some of you may not understand what
I meant by list moderation. In addition to a couple of other things,
list moderators are the human component of the spam filter for our
project lists. If the attached e-mail were to have come right after I
went to bed, it would have waited 10 hours before it reached the list
because I am the only one actively moderating our mailing lists. Our
mentors are still signed up as moderators, but they are not active in
that role. Likewise if someone were to find a way to get past the
spam filter (which does occasionally happen on Apache lists), they
could spam the list for 10 hours before I woke up and blocked them.

I'm in the CET timezone. If we could get one list moderator in PST,
and one list moderator in IST we'd have the clock covered well enough.

For more information on Apache list moderation with ezmlm see here:

Best Regards,

P.S. Thank you Gift for providing me an example to work from. : o)
