Subject [jira] Commented: (FELIX-36) Improve built-in handler support in URL Handlers
Date Sat, 03 Dec 2005 16:38:30 GMT

Richard S. Hall commented on FELIX-36:
--------------------------------------

URL Handlers now searches for built-in stream and content handlers. It looks into a default
package (sun.net.www.protocol and sun.net.www.content, respectively) as well as the list of
packages specified in a property (java.protocol.handler.pkgs and java.content.handler.pkgs,
respectively). Some minor changes are needed, such as using doPrivileged() to perform a few
commands, so this issue will remain open.

> The current support for built-in handlers in the URL Handlers service is braindead and
needs to be improved; currently there is only a hard-coded check for the "file:" stream handler
in URLHandlers.createURLStreamHandler(). This needs to be improved and to be brought in line
with the OSGi R4 specification (see section 11.3).
