Excellent. This sounds like it could be a great contribution.

I anticipate that we will see multiple implementations for different 
purposes and environments, so this makes sense to me. I expect that we 
might be able to talk Rob Walker into contributing his simpler 
implementation. If we end up with multiple implementations, we might 
want to give them more colorful names that "Log Service" so in JIRA we 
can differentiate the components.
