Subject [jira] [Commented] (FALCON-1379) Doc describes retention incorrectly
Date Fri, 07 Aug 2015 11:31:46 GMT

Ajay Yadava commented on FALCON-1379:

 Retention will delete only the instances before the t-10h in above example. That is the correct
behavior also IMO. Will fix the docs.

> Doc describes retention incorrectly
> -----------------------------------
>                 Key: FALCON-1379
>                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FALCON-1379
>             Project: Falcon
>          Issue Type: Bug
>          Components: docs
>    Affects Versions: 0.6
>            Reporter: Paul Isaychuk
>            Assignee: Ajay Yadava
>             Fix For: 0.7
> http://falcon.apache.org/FalconDocumentation.html#Retention says that:
> {quote}
> Example:
> If retention period is 10 hours, and the policy kicks in at time 't', the data retained
by system is essentially the one in range \[t-10h, t]. Any data before t-10h and after t is
removed from the system.
> {quote}
> confusion here is that retention actually removes data which is before \[t-10] but data
which is after \[t] is not being removed.
> So either doc should be fixed or retention doesn't work properly.
> If something is wrong please clarify the issue.
