Scott Preece commented on FALCON-1313:
--------------------------------------

I divide events into several groups, notably "lifecycle events" and "exception events", where
lifecycle events are the normal waypoints in the life a feed instance and exceptions are all
the ways things can go wrong.

My preference would be to allow a user to specify notification handling for all the different
events listed in the Monitoring section of the documentation. Ideally the user would be able
to associate a channel JMS, e-mail, etc.) and destination (JMS topic or e-mail address) for
each named event. Ideally this would extend to offering an easy hook mechanism for users who
want to connect a monitoring package to respond to them.

Logs suck as an end-user monitoring mechanism. JMS is fine, but requires a lot more work for
an end-user to set up a client to listen for messages. E-mail is easy.
