Subject [jira] [Commented] (FALCON-705) Feed Retention at Instance Level
Date Tue, 21 Oct 2014 14:12:34 GMT

Ajay Yadav commented on FALCON-705:

Actual use case was that there was a feed which was not getting created. It was not attended
till the time for it's entire retention period duration and hence all instances were lost.
This should not be a problem in most of the cases. Also, instead of number of instances adding
a storage quota based solution would be better was what we discussed.

> Feed Retention at Instance Level
> --------------------------------
> Key: FALCON-705
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FALCON-705
> Project: Falcon
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Components: retention
> Reporter: Pracheer Agarwal
> Currently, while specifying retention in feed we need to give some time unit and number
of units like hours(6).
> It will be good to have feed retention on instance level like instances(5) which shows
I want to preserve last 5 instances.
> This feature is useful when whole pipeline starts after some time. So it that case we
don't have to approximate the retention.
