Subject Maven Build Script and Proxies
Date Tue, 13 Dec 2005 23:25:00 GMT

Hi List
Check to see if this has been mentioned before in the archives and could
not find anything.
I live behind a proxy that requires Authentication, so have configured
Maven correctly to use this, however the Maven Build scripts use only part
of the information supplied.

For some reason (wether good or bad, not judging) some of the maven.xml
files have something like

<define:tag name="get-license-bin">
          <setproxy proxyhost="${maven.proxy.host}"
proxyport="${maven.proxy.port}"/>
          <ant:mkdir dir="${maven.dist.bin.assembly.dir}"/>
          <ant:get
src="http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/excalibur/trunk/LICENSE.txt"
dest="${maven.dist.bin.assembly.dir}/LICENSE.txt"/>
          <ant:get
src="http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/excalibur/trunk/NOTICE.txt"
dest="${maven.dist.bin.assembly.dir}/NOTICE.txt"/>
</define:tag>

which connects to the proxy and then dies as the username and password is
not supplied.
The setproxy task (which I assume is the Ant Task -
http://ant.apache.org/manual/OptionalTasks/setproxy.html) does allow for
username and password to be supplied, so am asking if this worthwhile
adding to the necessary files so as to allow those with Authenticated
Proxies to build.

I have managed to get around this by creating an unauthorised proxy
cascading to the authorised proxy, but this is not a good long term fix.

Nicholas Irving
