You can use the same shorthand, but different id attributes in system.xconf. 
When you specify the hint for the component in the lookup, specify the correct
id attribute.  This works for Keel models.

<my-component id="my-component-1">
    ...some config elements....
</my-component>

<my-component id="my-component-2">
    ...some different config....
</my-component>
