I think each component should have its own version. Its that way now for 
good reasons. This fits best with the maven model of (relatively) small 
versioned artifacts.

yeah, I know. It's bugging me as well. But taking a look at a few of the 
other bigger projects that heavily utilize jira (maven for example), I 
do think it pays of to split things out.

well, figure out if we want to change this. If we do, I think its a lot 
of work!
