The failure is happening here:

  throw new DrillRuntimeException(errMsg);
}

We are passing a char (Character.MAX_VALUE) to String.format() where it's expecting an int.

I will submit a patch to fix the error message, but the query will still fail because the number of batches the sort needs to handles exceeds the maximum SelectionVector4 can index.
