Subject [jira] [Commented] (DRILL-2628) sqlline hangs and then asserts when trying to execute anything on a dead JDBC connection

Daniel Barclay (Drill) commented on DRILL-2628:
-----------------------------------------------

If DRILL-2628 is because a connection gets closed but still used, then the hanging part will
be fixed by the fix for DRILL-2565. (There should be an exception rather than just a hang.)

>          Issue Type: Bug
>          Components: Client - JDBC

> Here is what I'm observing:
> 1. Start drill
> 2. Start sqlline
> 3. Run couple of queries
> 4. Bounce drill
> 5. Run in sqlline: "use dfs.temp"
> It hangs and after some time throws an exception:
> {code}
> 0: jdbc:drill:schema=dfs> use dfs.joins_views;
> java.lang.AssertionError
>         at org.apache.drill.jdbc.DrillResultSet.execute(DrillResultSet.java:111)

>         at sqlline.SqlLine.main(SqlLine.java:460)
> {code}
> Comment on a dead JDBC connection is a speculation on my part. I don't know what is actually
happening.
