---------------------------------

             Summary: Drill pushed invalid SQL to SQL Server when concat operator used
                 Key: DRILL-5652
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DRILL-5652
             Project: Apache Drill
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components:  Server
    Affects Versions: 1.10.0
         Environment: Drill 1.10
SQL Server 2016
            Reporter: N Campbell

plugin to SQL Server 2016 via JDBC defined

following statement sent to Drill which fails due to invalid operator pushed down in the SQL

select RNUM, '1234567890' || TVCHAR.CVCHAR  from certsqlserver.dbo.TVCHAR
DATA_READ ERROR: The JDBC storage plugin failed while trying setup the SQL query.

SELECT "RNUM", '1234567890' || "CVCHAR" AS "EXPR$1"
FROM "dbo"."TVCHAR"

Note also if two constants were used the expression pushed to SQL Server uses blank strings
instead of the specified non-blank value

SQL: select 'FF' || 'FF' from certsqlserver.dbo.TVERSION
 SELECT '' || '' AS "EXPR$0"
FROM "dbo"."TVERSION"
