Subject [jira] [Created] (DRILL-3475) Drill can't access Hadoop
Date Wed, 08 Jul 2015 20:40:04 GMT
Kathy Qiu created DRILL-3475:

             Summary: Drill can't access Hadoop
                 Key: DRILL-3475
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DRILL-3475
             Project: Apache Drill
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Storage - Other
    Affects Versions: 1.1.0
Environment: CDH 5.4.2 cluster on AWS Linux instance
            Reporter: Kathy Qiu
            Assignee: Jacques Nadeau
            Priority: Blocker

I've been trying to use Drill to access HDFS. First, I tried it with user authentication disabled
in the drill-override.conf file, but this is the error I got when I issued the "show files"
command from my HDFS workspace:

PERMISSION ERROR: SIMPLE authentication is not enabled. Available:[TOKEN, KERBEROS]

So then I enabled user authentication and installed/configured PAM per the instructions in
the Drill documentation. However, when I try to start the Drill shell now, I get this error:
No DrillbitEndpoint can be found

(By the way, I start Drill using "bin/drill-conf") Any ideas on what could be causing this
issue? Thanks.
