Thanks, Kiran. I have 2.0.0-M8, and directory studio 2.

Under the root, I see

ou=config
+ ads-directoryServiceId=default
  + ou=partitions
      ads-partitionId=example

Is this the example partition?

If so, where is the "com" part of the dn ?
(I am new to LDAP, btw)

try 2.0.0-M8 or M9 they come with the dc=example,dc=com partition
