Brian Brooks commented on DIR-324:

[~elecharny] Here is some text that documents wrapper.exe's logging configuration:
To run as a Windows service, the AapcheDS Java classes must be executed within a Windows native
The ApacheDS project relies on the Tanuki Service Wrapper wrapper.exe to manage the ApacheDS
Java Virtual Machine (JVM) process.
While the ApacheDS Java code's logging is log4j-based, the wrapper.exe Windows service has
its own logging configuration.
In particular, the wrapper.conf log settings govern the destination of the JVM's stdout and
stderr logging
and the logging of the communication between the wrapper.exe Windows service container and
the JVM it hosts.

The wrapper.exe log settings are contained in C:\Program Files (x86)\ApacheDS\conf\wrapper.conf.

The Tanuki Service Wrapper web site documents all configuration settings for wrapper.exe
including logging:

the Commons Daemon user interface. But apacheds-2.0.0-M23.exe windows setup executable installs
wrapper.exe. The wrapper.exe logging is configured in C:\Program Files (x86)\ApacheDS\conf\wrapper.conf.
