Subject [jira] [Created] (DIRSERVER-1911) Incorrect installation presumption toward user naming convention
Date Mon, 04 Nov 2013 18:46:17 GMT
Tou-Soua Heu created DIRSERVER-1911:
---------------------------------------

Summary: Incorrect installation presumption toward user naming convention
                 Key: DIRSERVER-1911
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSERVER-1911
             Project: Directory ApacheDS
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: installer-plugin
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0-M15
         Environment: RHEL 6.x
            Reporter: Tou-Soua Heu
            Priority: Trivial

The ApacheDS 2.0 installer incorrectly presumes that the user used to run the server always
has its group name equal to its user name. In corporations where this isn't true, meaning
the group name is not equal to $RUN_AS_USER, then the "sh/install.sh" script blows up trying
to use "$RUN_AS_USER:$RUN_AS_USER" as an identifier. This JIRA is to request the installer
to handle the case where user name is not equal to group name, perhaps by having a RUN_AS_GROUP
type of enhancement to the installer.
