Joel commented on DIRSTUDIO-845:
--------------------------------

Now i'm beginning to understand how DS and timezones work in raw format (it's not just a DS
thing either by the looks of it). I found this useful webpage that states that using DateTime.Now()
is not the best idea and you should use DateTime.UtcNow() to store dates as a lot of software
that accesses databases have a habit of seeing the date and adding 11 hours to compensate
for the 'Z' which causes things to seem like they've been created in the future. I'm going
to request the software vendor uses DateTime.UtcNow() instead of the .Now() tag.

Thanks for the help and pointing me in the right direction.

> We have a piece of photocapture software that takes a photo and adds it to our eDirectory
tree along with the date the photo was taken. The format it uses to store the date in is the
following: 20121108144205Z (yyyyddmmhhmm??Z). Apache takes this date and converts it to a
more user friendly version but this date is off by +11 hours as below.
> 9/11/2012 1:42:05 (20121108144205Z)
