The point was not to make it any faster, but "simpler" to use.
At most, we could throw an LdapException, as I still think throwing Exception is too much.
APIs rarely throw Exception and tend to have a dedicated root exception that makes it easy
to know which part of the code thrown it (especially in the case where you have a giant try-catch-exception
block).
