Ok. What about installing ADS using the installer, not the exe? You have a jar file which
can be launched using java -jar :
http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/directory/apacheds/stable/1.0/1.0.0/apacheds-1.0.0-linux-i386-setup.jar

I know, this is for linux, but if you are using cygwin, I think this may work.

I'm sorry, I don't have a W$ box right now, so I can't check your installation. Anybody ?
