We can use Java 5 to build 1.4 JARs.  Please add this to project.properties:

maven.compile.source = 1.4
maven.compile.target = 1.4

I use JDK 1.5 tu build MINA, and maven generates 1.4 JARs for me.

I can't see any problem here.  Am I missing something?
