Ahh... So it is about 'external unknown' objects being serialized !! I thought 
it was about objects belonging to the Eve codebase that needs serialization.
So the problem is a lot simpler. I'll check this later tonight, after looking 
into running Gump.

Btw, I think a flush() is required for the serialize() case before converting 
to byte array, as you otherwise are at risk of buffered data internally in 
serialization implementations, which are not required to flush at any 
particular point in time other than close().

But, I'll see if I even can construct a testcase that exposes this flaw.
